Heat sensitive cable IPLT (thermocable)

New product on the Russian market. The XCR series thermo-sensitive cable is a high-strength outer jacket made of fluoropolymer with reduced smoke and gas release, high mechanical strength, resistance to direct sunlight (including UV radiation), as well as to harsh weather conditions, it is allowed to use at extremely low temperatures (-60°C) and demonstrates the best performance in comparison with other other jacket types (like Nylon), it is specially developed for hazards, that require durable, reliable, high-tech and environmentally friendly fire protection systems.


Linear heat detector (LHD or thermocable) allows to detect a source of overheating at any point over its length. LHD is a single continuous operation sensor and is used in cases where operating conditions do not allow to install and use conventional detectors, including high explosive conditions, so the use of LHD is an optimal solution.

The traditional Fire Line Linear Thermal (IPLT) detector consists of two steel conductors, each of them has an insulating coating from thermo-sensitive polymer. Conductors with an insulating coating are twisted to create mechanical stress between them. The conductors are covered outside with a protective jacket from double transparent tape and placed in a sheath to protect from adverse environmental conditions.

The operation principle of the traditional thermal cable is based on destruction of the insulation sheath from the thermos-sensitive polymer under compression of the conductors when the threshold value of the ambient temperature is reached. In this case, the conductors are closed together. This can occur at any point of increased temperature over length of the thermal cable. To operate the thermal cable it is not necessary to wait heating of a section of specified length. The thermal cable provides the formation of an alarm signal when the temperature threshold is reached at any point along the whole length of the cable.

In 2016 Group of Companies Pozhtechnika started production of a thermal cable in Russia under the Protectowire license. Four series of the classic thermal cables are available that differs from each other by classes of thermal detectors and material of external protective jackets, allowing to operate the thermal cable under different environmental conditions.


IPLT EPC - a thermal cable of IPLT EPC series has a strong extrusion outer protective PVC sheath providing reliable cable protection under various environmental conditions. A thermal cable of this series is universal and designed for both industrial and commercial use. The jacket of the thermal cable is fireproof and moisture resistant and retains good flexibility when used at low temperatures.

IPLT XLT - a thermal cable IPLT XLT series has a polymeric outer sheath and was specially designed for use at extremely low temperatures. Such sheath allows the use this cable in refrigerated warehouses, commercial freezers, unheated warehouses, as well as in severe climatic conditions of the North.

IPLT TRI - a thermocouple of IPLT TRI series is a unique linear heat detector that allows to receive two alarm signals ("Pre-Alarm" and "Fire") in accordance with the set temperature limits. The thermal cable is enclosed in a PVC sheath and has characteristics similar to the IPCL EPC cables.

IPLT XCR is a novelty on the Russian market. The thermal cable IPLT XCR is enclosed in a high-strength outer sheath from fluoropolymer. This series of detectors is specially designed for facilities, for the protection of which it is necessary to use reliable, high-tech and environmentally friendly equipment. The main feature of the XCR XTR series thermal cable is a fluoropolymer flame retardant shell, with reduced smoke and gas release, providing the highest mechanical abrasion resistance over wide temperature range. In addition, the fluoropolymer coating protects the thermo-sensitive polymer from effects of different acids, alkalis, organic solvents and simple gases. In addition, the fluoropolymer sheath is resistant to sunlight (including UV radiation), as well as to various weather conditions. This type of thermal cable can be used at extremely low temperatures and demonstrates the best performance in comparison with other types.
